Every business has a beginning. Ours began with a dream, a whole lot of determination, and a desire to build something bigger than ourselves.

My name is Darion Goode, founder of D.L. Goode & Sons LLC. But before I ever became a business owner, I was a husband, a father, and a man who wanted more for his family.

I’ve spent 10 years in the construction industry, gaining hands on experience working alongside my father as a foreman and lead heavy equipment operator. Those years taught me more than how to operate equipment or manage a job site. They taught me the value of hard work, taking pride in what you do, and the importance of building a reputation that speaks for itself.

My wife and I always shared big dreams. We wanted more opportunities for our family, the freedom to build a life on our own terms, and most importantly, something we could one day pass down to our children.

For years, my wife and I worked side by side in the field. We shared the early mornings, long days, challenges, and accomplishments that came with the job. Working together was something we genuinely enjoyed. We weren’t just husband and wife; we were a team.

When we welcomed our youngest daughter, my wife stepped away from the field to stay home with our children. While we were grateful for that chapter of our lives, we missed the connection that came from working alongside one another and building something together every day.

That’s when the idea of D.L. Goode & Sons began taking shape.

What started as a way to bring in extra income for our growing family quickly turned into something much greater. The more we talked about our future, the more we realized that the dream we’d always shared was something we could actually make happen.

So we decided to take a chance on ourselves.

We stopped looking at D.L. Goode & Sons as just a side business and dove headfirst into turning our vision into reality.

It took long hours, sacrifices, determination, and a whole lot of faith in what we were building. But we knew what we were working toward, and that made every challenge worth it.

The name D.L. Goode & Sons carries a special meaning to me. Having spent years working alongside my own father, I know firsthand the value of learning a trade, sharing experiences, and building something together across generations. When I look at my two sons, I see the possibility of continuing that tradition. My hope is that one day, they’ll look at the company we’ve built and see more than trucks, equipment, and job sites. I want them to see the hard work, sacrifices, and determination that went into creating something they can be proud of. Whether they choose to follow in my footsteps or carve out paths of their own, I want all of my children to know that this business was built with their futures in mind.

Today, D.L. Goode & Sons LLC proudly serves Central Virginia, specializing in land clearing, excavation, grading, driveway installation, drainage solutions, and site preparation.

As our company continues to grow, my goal remains the same: to provide honest, dependable service and quality workmanship while building lasting relationships with the people who trust us with their properties.

To me, our company name means more than just a business. It represents my family, the values I was raised with, and the future my wife and I are working to create for our children.

I want my kids to grow up knowing that nothing worth having comes without hard work. I want them to see what dedication, perseverance, and believing in yourself can accomplish. And one day, I hope they’ll have the opportunity to carry on what we started.

Our family is our foundation. Our children are our motivation. And the legacy we’re building is our purpose.
